• Defence Against the Dark Arts: the subject taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In this class, students studied and learned how to defend themselves against all aspects of the Dark Arts, including dark creatures, curses, hexes, jinxes (dark charms), and duelling.

• Dark Arts: the term that refers to any type of magic mainly used to cause harm to, exert control over, or even kill people and creatures. Most people who practised what was known as the Dark Arts were evil, but not all. Mariette used dark arts in class what she had earned but actually, she hates it when someone uses this as his own goal. One time, Mariette was almost raped by Edmond however Hermione saved her by using Crucio's spell to torture him and she wanted to tell everyone that Hermione uses this however Tom implanted a false memory in Mariette's mind to save Hermione's life. Mariette has nightmares about someone raping her often this memory is like it was real and Hermione was worried about her but is possible that Hermione used an Oblivate spell to that she can forget Edmond raped her.
